His Handiwork: Stories of seeing God in nature

I was a curious kid growing up, and I never wanted anything to pass me by; I wanted to know how things became things, how everything came into being. I remembered asking my mother how they knew that “plate” was meant to be the name they gave it in my native language.

However, what often passes me by was nature. It just doesn’t make sense to the natural man. It doesn’t make sense, no matter how hard I think about it. Philosophers talk about it, science proofs it, but it still doesn’t make sense. It just all sum up to the fact that it has God’s hands. God is involved in nature.

God is involved in nature, and as a matter of fact can be seen everywhere in what we think is natural. Let me bring you on to some natural things that I believe just has to be God.

CHILDBIRTH

Once conception occurs, the journey to parenthood begins, and this is the miracle of life. This continues for a period of 9 months during which a tiny embryo begins to form in the mother. Having a human grow in a woman definitely has to be the hand of God.

The pregnancy journey is divided into three trimesters, each with its unique physical, emotional, and psychological changes. From the initial excitement and morning sickness of the first trimester, to the growing belly and preparation for parenthood in the third, each stage brings its own set of challenges and joys.

The Miracle of Childbirth

Childbirth is a moment of pure awe and wonder. After months of anticipation and preparation, the moment of birth finally arrives. It’s a moment of great joy, as a new life emerges into the world.

God’s Providence: Lessons from Nature

In the natural world, we find profound reminders of God’s care and provision. Two examples, in particular, stand out: God’s feeding of the birds and His clothing of the lilies. These wonders of nature offer valuable insights into God’s character and love for His creation.

God Feeds the Birds

In Matthew 6:26, Jesus teaches, “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” This verse highlights God’s faithful provision for even the smallest creatures. Birds do not worry about their next meal; they trust that God will provide. This example encourages us to trust in God’s goodness and provision for our own lives.

God Clothes the Lilies

In Matthew 6:28-30, Jesus continues, “And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Here, Jesus points to the beauty and splendor of the lilies, which are clothed in glory by God Himself. This illustration reminds us that God cares about our appearance and well-being, just as He adorns the flowers of the field.

Lessons from Nature

These examples from nature offer powerful lessons about God’s character:

- God is a faithful provider: He feeds the birds and clothes the lilies, demonstrating His care and provision for all creation.

- God values trust and faith: Just as the birds trust God for food, we are encouraged to trust Him for our needs.

- God delights in beauty and splendor: The lilies, clothed in glory, reflect God’s appreciation for beauty and His desire to adorn His children.

Conclusion

As we gaze upon the wonders of nature, we are reminded of God’s loving care and provision. Childbirth, the birds and lilies teach us valuable lessons about trust, faith, and God’s delight in beauty. May these examples inspire us to deepen our trust in God and marvel at His goodness and glory.
