The phrase “…light at the end of the tunnel” is a rather popular one, has even been used for “memes” so to say. But jokes aside it is usually used to bring motivation or consolation to a weary heart, usually someone who feels their life has been in the dark for a long time and they feel like giving up or they already have. This is phrase can be used for the purpose of upliftment for such individual.
The concept of light
Who or what is that light that phrase is telling us is at the end. The light can signify fulfillment of purpose, relief, success, joy, happiness, peace and so on. Usually good things, but what should that light signify or be to us as believers. The bible tells us that Jesus is the Light of the World so if He is the light then we shouldn’t seek after any other light apart from HIS. As believers Jesus is always with us, which means for us believers the phrase shouldn’t just be “…light at the end of the tunnel” but “…light in the tunnel” because even in our darkest of place or times He is there with us shining His light, all we have to do is to accept that light and become even beacons ourselves.
Sharing the light
As believers we are to shine as well, how do we help others who are not shinning and are in dark places, maybe struggling through depressions, anxiety or even trauma, how can we share that light? we can share it through evangelism, as part of the fulfillment of the great commission (“And he said unto them, Go ye into the all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” - Mark 16:15). Once you can share the good news of Christ to that individual that is how you can introduce the light of God to that individual and once that person receives the light one can then have that light even in the tunnel, thereby saving a soul from distress both physically and spiritually and also playing your part in the great commission. Which is to go out and preach the gospel to every creature.
Light as hope
Just as you might have read, that light at the end and in the tunnel brings hope to an individual, it makes them know and believe that they have a chance to fight the good fight, to keep running the race, not throw in the towel or give up. So be sure to be one that shares the light which has been found so as to bring hope to as many people that may be living in despair, God saved you and showed you His light, with His help share and shine that light to as many individuals that you can, so as to lending a helping hand to those sinking in the “mud” and win souls for God thereby, saving people with the help of God and playing your part in the fulfillment of the great commission.
