Bloom Where You're Planted

It’s common for people especially in this country (Nigeria) to complain about the state of the country they were born, we tend to wish that we were born in a better country or a country where the government did better for her citizens, we may even tend to blame the country for the bad state of our lives, or we might feel our lives would have been better if we were born in a better country.

Some of these actions or thoughts are justifiable, but we shouldn’t pounder and waste time on issues or occurrences we can’t change or didn’t decide (as no one choose the country they were born in). This is  where we can relate the phrase “bloom where you’re planted” from. To prosper or “bloom” we have to work with what we have and what we can change.

So how do we do this? how do we make do with what we have? how do we bloom where we are planted? firstly, we have to accept and believe that where we were planted is truly where we are supposed to be and that God did not make a mistake by putting us there, no matter how bad the state of the place is, know and always remember that God has a reason for everything and that His thoughts for us are of good and not of evil to give us an expected end. So, believe that the expected end would even exceed your expectation.

Also, look around you. Look out for people who are blooming and prospering even in that place you were planted, seek for mentorship as even in that hard place there are people who have been able to
” Hack the system” to not allow their environment to affect them badly. Some may even use their issues and problems as accelerators or motivations to exceed more than the ordinary. Also try to find successful people who share the same faith as you, and if you can’t find enough try your best as possible with the grace of God to learn what you want to and not pick up ungodly practices.

Keep up your Christian virtues and strive to practice or acquire more good attributes that you don’t have, as Christian virtues can take you far even in the secular world, people (especially high ranking) appreciate people who are honest, loyal and possess other good attributes, these attributes are even good for the success of a company or a business. Once you are able to have these Christian virtues and embrace them in everything you do, God can grant you favor in the sight of men.

 Successful people from hard places

Let’s look at some Christians who have bloomed even in hard places, the likes of Pst. Dr. W.F Kumuyi, Pst. Dr. E.A Adeboye and other pastors of prestigious and popular churches, most of them didn’t come from easy paths in life, they mostly had their struggles in life and were still able come on top and prosper, even in the secular space people like Tony Elemelu and some other entrepreneurs also came from hard places, and struggled in life but they were still able to succeed.

All that I have said is motivation and help for you to be able to succeed even in whatever low point you may be, to be able to put your mind into something and know that you can succeed even if you come from a bad or hard place, no matter where you were born or what family you come from always remember with God on your side you can bloom even in a hard place and you can indeed flourish.
