Have you ever found yourself in trials that shook your faith? A kind of challenge that tested your foundation in God? One of the questions many believers struggle with is, “Why do we still go through struggles and turbulent times even after giving our lives to Christ?” Having turned away from the past and from sin, where everything is now made new, why do we still experience storms in this newness? At times, these experiences can shake and challenge our faith. If you have ever felt this way, here is a word of assurance and peace to you: you are not alone. God desires the best for you, and your well-being greatly matters to Him.
The Scripture says, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). This is the joy we have in Christ, unlike the people of the world whose hope is uncertain. Our hope is rooted in Christ, knowing that even in pain, there is purpose. He also reminds us that the peace He gives is not as the world gives. As believers, we must remember that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). This is why we must stand firm in the place of prayer and remain steadfast in faith.
You must understand that difficult seasons come to strengthen us, for God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. Tough times are often part of God’s process of building us into stronger vessels for His purpose. This is why we are called to walk by faith and not by sight. David, after his anointing, faced seasons of struggle that transformed him from a shepherd boy into a warrior and a king capable of leading men through battles. Many times, our struggles become our Cave of Adullam experience, a place of training, drilling, and preparation for greater exploits. It is a place of refinement where God strips away old patterns and weaknesses that may hinder our elevation.
Finally, as a child of God, learn to approach every trial with a seeking heart, looking up to God for understanding. Ask Him, “Lord, what lesson do You want me to learn here? What are You trying to show me through this process?” Do not waste your pain. Instead, allow it to birth greatness within you and shape you into the person God has called you to become.
